Discography

I finally got the disk cutter I ordered over a month and a half ago! I found out from the Beaducation folks at the Tucson Gem Show that you pretty much had to get on a waiting list for them. I had the Pepe disk (or is it disc?) cutter recommended to me by Kim St. Jean at the class I took at the Santa Fe Bead Fest last year.

Well I tell you it was worth waiting for and easy to use. I got the smallest one with five disk sizes.

I've been making up some lampwork headpins lately after being inspired by Cindy Gimbrone awhile back.

I had to try them out myself to make sure they held up for my designs since I'm putting them up for sale in my Etsy shop now. I've made some on copper wires and now on black annealed steel wire too. I have a special pair of cutters  dedicated for the steel headpins since the steel is rough on cutters.

I had picked up a box chock full of enameling supplies when I was setting up my studio two years ago and there were a few sheets of metal to play with- brass, copper and some galvanized tin that had me intrigued with it's possibilities. I must say I'm quite pleased with myself with this first run of new designs.

And now for the debut of my IndustrialChic earrings

I like the way this galvanized tin looks.
With the price of silver these days it's nice to find alternatives.

This copper from the garage sale was already nicely etched

They can be reversed for a shinier look

more shiny

These have sari silk ribbon dangles

  1. Sunday?? {Who cares what day??} I was going to the library, an AA meeting. the market, etc. Although I have 11 ear piercings, I couldn't find anything to put in them that pleased me.

I'll be in touch as soon as I have money, Kim. I think I may be an Industrial Chic chick. Thank you! I bow!

  6. I like the copper ones. Since I now live again is the Copper State I am always on the look out for copper pieces.
There is really not that much out there. Your earrings are wonderful.
The disk cutter... cuts flat disks and then you pound them into whatever shape you want ? If so how very cool is that !

    cheers, parsnip

  8. Wow what beautiful earrings. I love all of them but love the idea of using the galvanized tin - I'm always on the lookout for easy accessible, inexpensive medium to work with.... I also love to mix metal with fabric so love those as well, although I don't think I could pick a favourite! All are beautiful!

Thanks also for your kind comments on my blog.

  11. Oh Kim you will never look back now you have that tool- it is the bobb! I am glad you got the Pepe one - they are brilliant - recommended by the amazing Susan Lenart Kazmer too. I am such a circle fan - just can't get enough of 'em! Your earrings look great - have fun!

  12. I love all of these! The discs go so well together with the beautiful glass dangles!
I've been wanting one of these bigger disc cutters for sooo long! On the other hand, I don't play often with my smaller one, recently, so I probably wouldn't use the bigger one enough. From time to time I purchase some readymade larger scrap metal discs from someone else. It would be much more fun to cut some out myself, of course.
I am really looking forward to see what you'll come up with, next!
    Numindustrial is the perfect name.
