Utilizing Gem Show Finds

I wanted to share with you a few of my newest creations with some of my finds from The Tucson Gem and Mineral Show. It was the first time since we got our little co-op unit in Tucson and I was actually able to ride my bike to one of the shows.

I was particularly drawn to bone Tibetan mala prayer beads this time and gravitated to more tribal looking pieces of bone and even wood.
This pair has my own swirly headpins that can be found in my Etsy shop NuminosityBeads.
I found some delicious pyrite chunks that were small enough not to add too much heft but add some understated bling (is that an oxymoron?) I have been waiting to use my vintage buttons, perhaps hoarding them. Taking a lesson from fancifuldevices I am going to let go and use some of my favorite collections now.

Here are a few of the strands I've broken up that I'll be listing in my supply shop Numinosity.
I have plenty of these so if you want to shout out for some now before I list, have at it!
These top mala beads are a bit larger than the ones I already have listed in my shop.
In case you're confused, I have two shops. One for supplies and vintage things that I didn't make  and the other is all of my own creations including some supplies I have made such as headpins and beads

My photoshop on my laptop is groaning from all of my India photos and won't let me edit any more due to a lack of RAM memory at the moment so I'm sharing some unadulterated photos here, please forgive me.

buttons and bones

Amber swirl headpins... small ivory color mala beads.

I hope to be adding more once I get my memory back!
I have one more thing to add here, do you folks prefer me to answer your comments here or via email, I've always been unsure about this. It has been kind of fun to see responses on other blogs so I may consider switching to answering here, Whatyathink?

  1. I WANT THAT PAIR OF EARRINGS. I am shouting at you. That top pair. Have you sold them already? I went to Etsy...

Kim, your work is just beautiful. You are a wonder to me in the range of your experiences through this life and the seeming limitlessness of your creativity. My best friend tried to STEAL my journal. It was a truly bloody fight, but I won. Afterward we ate cake.

Seriously, if you have earrings like that on Etsy for sale, let me know--they are a little more complex. And don't be afraid they would not sell, Kim... Unfortunately for me, all my Christmas friends are annoying--they have birthdays, too!

    1. I haven't put them up in my Etsy shop yet Jeannette. i have a habit of showing off first, that's the fun part. The not so fun part is making the perfect photos and listing it in the shop so I am more than happy to see l them right from here. The way I see it it's one step away from selling in person and you get the privilege as a blog follower of seeing it first here. I have them saved out for you now.

  2. Beautiful, love the tin can idea - it's tricky to display earings I find - I used a glass vase last time.

    1. I'm always looking for things around the house to use as a background. I need to get more of a formula down to achieve a more consistent look for the online sales. It seems to be the one aspect I've been putting off for a good long while, Emma

  3. Sometimes responses on the blog are fun to read. I often read the whole thread of comments for blogs, watching the conversations because people may take off on an interesting tangent related to the original post. I get new insights into the original blogger as well.

I know, however, for my own blog, that it also encourages followers, not only for my own blog, but for the blogs of my commenters/followers. It is sort of like giving your commenters a thank you that can broaden THEIR community.

That said, sometimes, however, I will send an additional private email note because a particular comment has inspired me in a way that I don't necessarily feel adds to the public thread--or it's just personal.

That's my take anyway. But I also think that it is up to the blogger and whatever each of us feels most comfortable doing. I'm just a blog junkie when I decide to sit down for a real "blog session."

I DO know it's good "business" to respond publicly, but that's not always the goal!

    1. I agree, Carole. This is how I'd like to commence with my responses to your replies. As Jeannette suggested I can still do more personal conversations via private response if I wish.
      Thanks for your input.

  5. I have passed thru Tucson when the gem show is there and wow it is LARGE and Crazy busy looking.
I bet it is quite overwhelming to choose beads from such a large assortment.

Its funny, when I leave a comment, unless I am asking a question, I never expect a response.
I guess this is why no one really comments on my blog, I never leave a response via email or on my blog. Oops, I guess I am not up on blogger manners ;)

    1. It IS large and crazy and quite overwhelming, Amy. I almost get a bit depressed when I go through the enormous shows with tons of supplies. I keep going back and mange to glean some lovely supplies and sometimes overspend once I get going. It used to be the biggest thrill when I wintered in Alaska to get away to some warm weather and to see such a plethora of supplies. Now I've ramped back a bit since it's in my neighborhood now,

    1. I must say that i love that as much as the creating too, Layers.
When I travel I am in the habit of picking up bits and pieces off of the ground. I was warned that it was not the best idea by some schoolchildren in India.
